Happy International Women's Day!

No school or work today in honor of all the ladies in your life. Woohoo!

I celebrated this special day by not doing my homework because I'm a lady and I deserve to celebrate myself in this way.

My favorite part of the day was seeing two little boys, wearing suits and red bow ties, hand out roses to all the women in my metro station. Darn cute.

Here's a nice little blurb about celebrating the 8th of March in Russia:

"Russia inherited several public holidays from the era of the Soviet Union. For example, Defender of the Fatherland Day (originally known as Red Army Day) is celebrated on February 23rd. In a broad sense, this holiday celebrates people who are serving or were serving the Russian Armed Forces. Due to a common Russian stereotype that the role of the defender is reserved for males, the holiday has more recently come to celebrate Russia's men as a whole. However, there is also a special day for women—International Women's Day—which is celebrated in the first month of spring on March 8th. One might compare March 8th in Russia with Mother's Day in the West, although the Russian holiday celebrates all women, including mothers, grandmothers, daughters, and girlfriends." All women! That's so nice! Isn't that nice?

I also ate ramen today with my pal, Katya. Shout out to Ramen Club, which is the name of the restaurant not an actual club of which I am a member, because their ramen was both delicious and cheap. If this were the name of a high school club, I would probably sign up for it though. I'm putting that in my idea notebook.

I also drew my host mom a card because I'm secretly five years old and this is how I prefer to show my love.

Congrats on being a lady!

Yeah!

Love,

Aubrey
